Eyebrow Microblading

What Is Eyebrow Microblading?

Are you tired of drawing on your eyebrows every morning?  Long to have natural looking eyebrows while working out, swimming at the pool or beach or taking a Jacuzzi?  Then Microblading could be for you!

Eyebrow Microblading, also referred to as Eyebrow Embroidery, 3-D Brows, Micro-stroking and Feathering  is a unique form of tattoo artistry to enhance the eyebrows by creating individual hair-like strokes to mimic natural brow hair.  Unlike a regular tattoo, the microblading artist uses a hand held microblade tool instead of a machine to manually deposit pigment in the upper layers of the skin.  Although this method does not go as deep as a machine tattoo, it is still a tattoo.

Microblading is perfect for those who want to enhance and define their brows, cover gaps, or fill-in sparse eyebrows.

Will Microblading Work Well For Me?

Microblading typically has better healing results on skin types that are dry, normal or combination skin.  Be aware that it is not ideal for skin types that are oily, thick, sensitive, bleed easily or have large pores.

These skin types that are not ideal can possibly heal with various issues such as:

  • Uneven pigment distribution
  • Quicker fading time
  • Longer/more difficult healing
  • Thicker, softer lines/powdery look
  • Color accuracy

How Do I Prepare For My Appointment?

  • Do NOT (among other pre-cautions):
  • Drink alcohol or caffeine 48 hours before
  • Take ibuprofen or any blood thinners such as Advil, Niacin, Vitamin E or Aspirin (per pre-care)
  • No brow waxing or tinting 5 days before
  • No Botox one month prior or after
  • No exercising on day of appointment

Is Microblading Painful?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person and is dependent on how each client responds to the numbing products.  We make every effort to keep my clients as comfortable as possible with a topical anesthetic.

The Microblading Procedure

Consultation Appointment:

Meet and go over all details of microblading, what to expect and the appropriate forms.

First Treatment:

Step 1 – Paperwork

Step 2 – Measuring and Shaping

We use various measuring tools to follow the Golden Ratio measuring technique to mark the appropriate points of the brow.  These points are used as a guideline to then create a shape that is outlined in wax pencil.  We then work with the client to fine tune the thickness, position, arch and double check the measurements and take a picture before getting the clients final approval.

Step 3 – Microblading

During this step the manual tool is used to implant the approved color, creating the hair strokes into the upper layers of the skin.  This step is finished when the client gives final approval and we apply the final color mask.

Step 4 – Reveal

The fun part….when the final color mask is wiped off revealing beautiful brows!

Step 5 – Healing

Client follows precisely the after-care instructions and has been thoroughly educated about the stages of the healing process to minimize any unnecessary anxiety.

Second Treatment– Touch-Up

This required Touch-up Treatment is scheduled for 5-8 weeks following the initial treatment.  The first appointment laid the foundation.  The second one is to check skin healing and pigment retention and make any adjustments.  The touch-up treatment is complimentary.

What Sets SkinEssence Microblading Apart From Others Offering Microblading?

First of all I am a firm believer in high quality training and continuing education.  I started with a Blood Borne Pathogen course, followed with an intensive 65 hour hands-on Microblading  advanced training, an Advanced Pigment Color Theory Training and another training course that included hands-on Touch-up Training.  This was all combined with hours upon hours of ongoing practice on latex skin and models.

I am fully trained in providing a safe and sterile space and permitted by the OC Health Care Agency.  I use only the highest quality pigments and sterile, disposable single-use tools.

Customer service is important to me, so spending time with each client to make sure they are properly educated about this procedure including the vital pre and post care instructions is crucial as well as establishing realistic expectations.  Time spent communicating so I am in sync regarding the clients desired shape and color is important so I do not ever rush appointments.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Be aware there are no guarantees and this is dependent on each individual and how they heal and retain color.  Color/pigment retention varies depending on life-style choices, skin type, age, after care, immune system and other factors.  The ideal scenario would be up to 2 years but most clients look to do a yearly color boost.
